What is Search Engine Optimisation?

SEO(Search Engine Optimization)

With the massive amount of data that is available on the internet, it is important that your website is able to be discovered by those who are surfing the internet. Search engines provide the ability for websites to be found. Search engine optimization is the process of making your website the most visible on these search engines. Without this optimization, you may not be getting the greatest amount of hits that you possibly could be getting.

It is so easy with today’s technology to create a website. You merely have to create a domain and register it, choose a theme and then begin to create your content. However, if you want to truly optimize your website, there are things you should and should not do with this creation process. There are things you can do that will actually hurt your website for search engine optimization.

Search engines use spiders, or crawlers to find the websites that are on the internet. They crawl around the internet, make note of websites and their data. The information they find is then indexed and made available for those surfing the internet to find. The spiders will crawl around the internet and make note of any changes made to the sites they have previously visited. These changes are then noted in the index. It may take a month or two for the spiders to come back to your website and make note of your changes.

Search engines will make the assumption that any relevant keywords will be in the title or at the beginning of the page. The frequency of the keyword is also noted. The search engine will analyze how frequent the keyword appears in the article. That is where keyword stuffing comes in. Google will blackball your site if it thinks you are trying to get rankings from placing an unusual amount of keywords in your article.

Search engines will also find other relevant sites that link to your site and use that data in its indexing. It is important then to obtain as many links as you can to increase the search engine optimization. Search engines are smart enough to recognize false or engineered links, so be careful with how you create the links to your website

The use of social media to promote your business has now become the fad of the time. This is due to the amount of time people are spending interacting on the different social media and social networking sites. There may be some confusion as to what social media is, as opposed to social networking. Both of these sources of interaction can use the same or similar vehicles. Social networking is nothing more than the process of using a social networking site to interact with other people. It allows people to catch up on what is happening in their lives.

The use of social media to interact involves an actual strategy and methodology to promote your business, and to give out pertinent information to those who may be looking for it. This may be something very simple to the very complex. Blogging about what your company is doing or providing interesting industry related articles is one form of social media. The creation of training videos is another form. Be creative with what you have to offer.

What are some tips you can use to make your social media campaign successful? Perhaps one of the most important things to consider is that a little bit every day is better than a massive amount every once in a while. Using a strong, occasional approach will only drive interested parties away. Be willing to have a long term outlook with your social media interactions. You must be willing to stick with it to make it effective.

Another idea is to determine a narrow niche that you are going to promote. You should not try and be everything to everybody. Decide on what limited amount of ideas you are going to discuss or promote. Develop these ideas on the social networking sites, and demonstrate your proficiency in these areas. Provide links back to your site. Develop some goals of what you wish to accomplish. Write these goals and stick with them.

Always be aware of what message you are sending. Each interaction with others reflects on who you are. Be willing to go out of your way to help others. You never know when that will pay dividends to you. Be willing to accept criticisms. Not everyone is going to agree with you. Learn from their criticisms and make what you have to offer better.

By using a consistent, creative, informative approach, your ideas will bear fruit with your social media promotions.
